OCD or Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is a kind of anxiety disorder that leads people to do repetitive irrational behaviour, which adversely affect their daily lives and cause distress. The sufferer has a number of uncomfortable reoccurring obsessions (thoughts) and compulsions (fear) that urge to keep repeating continuously. It may consist of anxiety from meeting new people, endless use of sanitizers because of the excessive threat of germs contamination, aggression towards self or others and many more.
The person suffering from any kind of obsession or compulsion may experience unwanted thoughts, distress images and anxiety urges, repeatedly. Some compulsions may also combine extreme hoarding, deep cleaning, violent thoughts, and preoccupied rigid mentality for a specific object, person, religion, relationship or sexuality. In this, a person gets fond of cleanliness and hence they get fearful of shaking hands with people or even touching objects, which are touched by other people. A person can have obsessions like viz:
– In-depth cleaning and washing of the skin, cloths, or the place because of the heavy fear of dirt or germs
– Doing certain eccentric things like checking the lock of the door multiple times, or following some unusual pattern of no use; also counts as obsessions.
– Mismanagement is unbearable. Such people like placing the stuff in a systematic manner and cannot tolerate un-orderly management. They want everything at its correct place or in a symmetrical way, no matter what the time and situation is.
However, there are no such specific causes behind the OCD, but there are some factors, which may become the reason for leading Obsessive-compulsive disorder.
1. Genetic Factors
2. Biological Factors
3. Environmental Factors
